August 19th, 2021 by Pastor SolleyJer 33:3-6 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
4 For thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown down by the mounts, and by the sword;
5 They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city.
6 Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.
KJV
What is the answer for the things we are witnessing today, the things that we thought we would never see, the things that break our hearts as this nation turns against God and now even against its own citizens? Prayer. I have often quoted Jer 33:3 and often think and meditate upon that verse. But look at the context this morning. God calls for them to pray even while the houses of the city have been thrown down. Jeremiah was even in prison at the time this was given to Him by the Holy Spirit. Today we are in trouble as a nation and as Christians. Our answer is not going to be found in rebellion or even at the ballot box in the next election. Our answer is going to be found on our knees before God in prayer. As our freedoms are being taken away, as our constitution is ignored, as fellow Americans are left on their own on foreign soil, as we see one unimaginable things after another, let us pray, let us pray, let us pray. The answer given to Jeremiah is the one we need today, prayer.
