Ps 34:1-7 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
3 O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.
4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
KJV
There are many things that people boast in and about today and most of them not worth the time it takes to think about them. I see people wearing the colors and logos of their favorite sports teams and players as if those teams and players cared about them. But they are their favorites and they boast about them. I watch as people put on display the toys they purchase and boast in what they have. An individual in the area I live brings out several ATV every day and sits beside them only to put them back inside for the evening. They boast in what they have. People boast of the money they have, of the home they live in, of the car they drive and so many more things. But what do those things gain them in eternity? Nothing. But the born again believer can boast in the Lord. This is not a proud boasting of self for we are nothing in His sight in our own might. Yet Jesus put a value on us higher than His own life. Jesus gave all because we are of some value to Him, great value in Him. Then after salvation Jesus is willing to continue to bless and take care of us. Why? Because we are of value to the Lord, great value. So let me boast a little this morning but let that boasting be in the Lord. You see, we are still nothing without Christ, we are still worthless without Christ. But we Christ we become something of great value because we are of great value to Him. Let our boasting be in the Lord.
