But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.
The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.
Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.

Continuing in Psalm 37 this morning we find that the meek shall inherit the earth. Many mistake meekness for weakness and the two in the Bible do not go together. God never calls for His children to be weak, we are to be strong. (Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.) This is especially true today as we see wickedness on the rise. Yesterday we noted the anger that has taken over society and wickedness on the rise as we see in verses twelve and fourteen above. To combat this the Christian is to be meek but remember meekness is not weakness in the Bible. What then does it mean to be meek? We need to be meek before God, humble before God, dependent upon God in every circumstance of life. Moses was according to the Numbers 12:3 the meekest man on the earth and he stood against the leader of the most powerful nation in the world at the time. Moses was the meekest man and he had the strength to lead a people through the Red Sea, in the wilderness, against the enemies of God and to the door of the Promised Land. Moses was anything but weak. But Moses was humble before God and walked not in His own strength but in the strength of the Almighty God. We need to be just that meek today. When we are meek before God we find ourselves made strong in Him, strong enough to stand against the evil of this world, strong enough to proclaim the truth of the Word of God, strong enough to withstand until the Lord gives the ultimate victory. Remember a little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of the wicked and that becomes true in our lives as we humble ourselves and are meek before our God.
