Ps 37:4-9 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.
KJV
Doesn’t it seem like our entire nation is gripped by anger today? Riots, protests, incidents of road rage, violent crime on the rise, families divided, even churches divided today. We are living in a time when anger has taken over the lives of many people. We now have anger management classes, people taking medication for bipolar disorder and so much more. What is the answer? Once again the Bible has the answers we need. I find that I am to forsake wrath. (Verse 8) Many times in the New Testament we find this principal. (Eph 4:26-27 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27 Neither give place to the devil. ; James 1:19-20 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.) Being angry is not a sin, but to allow that anger to control us, not to be able to control our anger is a work of Satan. If we allow Satan to have that place in our lives it will move us away from Christ. What is the cure for anger? Psalm 37:4-9 has the answer. Once again make your delight the Lord, be committed to the Lord, rest in the Lord and wait upon Him. Finally remember the end of the unrighteous man and thank and praise the Lord that is not your end as a born again believer. As you watch the whole world given to anger place your faith and trust in the Lord and ask Him humbly to keep you from that path.
