Ps 18:6-10 In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.
7 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.
8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.
9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.
10 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.
KJV
Who do you turn to when in distress? Many are looking to the government to solve their problems today when the government cannot seem to get out of its own way. Many look to science to solve their problems today, the same science that denies there is a God in heaven. Many take more and more medications to calm their nerves. And some of course turn to alcohol or drugs to get some temporary relief. Who do you turn to when in distress? Notice what happens when we turn to the living God. First, He hears our voice. (Verse 6) Second, He will move the earth to help us in our hour of need. (Verse 7) Third, He has mighty power. (Verse 8) And finally, He comes swiftly to our aid, leaving heaven and rushing to us on wings of wind. (Verses 9-10) Why even think of turning to another? Of course we need a personal relationship with the Lord for this to take place and the first step in that relationship is being born again. Have you confessed and acknowledged your sin before God. Have you confessed that Jesus is the Son of God? Have you asked Him to save you? When those answers are yes you can expect to see this wonderful passage in Psalm 18 become a reality in your life when you turn to Him.
