Eph 6:10-18 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
KJV
Without naming and examining each piece of armor listed in these verses I want to move to the last one, prayer. (Verse 18) This is one that could be left out, after all we don’t put it on like the others named before it, but this is a vital piece. Nothing is going to work more for this soldier in his spiritual battle than prayer. Study the importance of prayer, the power that is gained through prayer, the sweet communion that prayer brings with our Lord and not only will you discover the importance of prayer but also why Satan attacks this area of our lives so much. This preacher knows the importance of prayer and also how difficult it is to maintain a proper prayer life in his own relationship with the Lord. Many times I find other things, spiritual things, interrupt prayer. Then there are the natural things of life that interrupt prayer. Prayer takes time, prayer is hard work, prayer is so important that our text clearly tells us we need to be “Praying always”. In another place the Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. If I don’t pray, if I ignore prayer, all the other pieces of my spiritual armor will be rendered ineffective. Knowing this, how much the more we need to be moved to prayer.
