May 24th, 2021 by Pastor SolleyJosh 10:24-25 And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.
25 And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the Lord do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.
KJV
Josh 17:17-18 And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only:
18 But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.
KJV
At the end of last week we were looking at the phrase “Be strong” in the Bible and I wish to continue with a few thoughts this morning. Our reading this morning gives us the ninth and tenth time that phrase is used in the Bible and it has to do with being strong in the face of our enemies even though they be strong. There is no doubt that they are strong enemies standing opposed to the things and people of God today. Things we thought we would never see, churches in America being persecuted, a government bent on silencing the gospel, and many, many more things as well. We need to remember the strength of the enemy has always been great, they have always been great in number. Yet we are commanded to be strong. How can our strength match theirs? It never can. But our God is stronger than any enemy we will ever encounter so we are to be strong and of a good courage. Read carefully verse twenty five above and take strength and courage from the Bible truth that our God fights for us. Every enemy will suffer ultimate defeat at the hands of Almighty God. So be strong in the Lord dear Christian, stand in His might, and let Him being victory in the fight.
