1 Sam 1:8-10 Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?
9 So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the Lord.
10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore.
KJV
With Mother’s Day this coming Sunday I want t look at a few mothers in the Bible and the example they left for mothers to follow today. Hannah was a praying mother. Study the chapter and you find Hannah prayed. She had all she needed in this world, her needs were being met by her husband but Hannah wanted a child. Hannah then went about the business of prayer, she poured out her soul to the Lord. This type of prayer should be one we are all familiar with but few are today. We wonder why God isn’t doing a work in our lives, in the lives of our children and grandchildren, we wonder, but do we pray? I am thankful today for a praying mother, one who was in constant prayer for me as well as my sister. I do not even like to think about where I might have ended up were it not for mother’s prayers. How much time do you spend in prayer? How often do you weep in prayer, pour you heart and soul out to the Lord in prayer. Hannah is a good example to follow.
