April 15th, 2021 by Pastor SolleyJohn 20:1-10 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.
Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre.
So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.
And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.
Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie,
And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.
Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.
For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.

Seeing is believing. Mary saw an empty tomb and had to do something about it so she whet and told the disciples. Peter and John saw an empty tomb and returned to their own homes. One is about to be rewarded while the others will spend a few more hours wondering what has happened. First the angels and then Jesus Himself appear to Mary and she finds great comfort, joy, and peace. (Read verses 11- 17) She again does something. (John 20:18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.) My point is that she again does something with what she saw, with what she believed. Why is it that we so often see and still do nothing? Have you watched what Jesus has done in the lives of others, watched what happens when a soul is saved? Why not then tell others about Jesus, what He has done and will do for them? Have you seen Jesus answer prayer? Why not pray more? Peter and John saw and believed and went home. Mary saw and believed and did something. Why not do something with what you believe, do something with your faith, do something for Jesus today?
