John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
KJV
Jesus will always be the Lamb of God but He becomes so much more than that to those who repent of sin and receive His as their personal savior. Still connected to sheep and the flock He becomes our Good Shepherd. (John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.) The one who knows and calls us by name, He is our Good Shepherd. Jesus is also our Great Shepherd. (Heb 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,) The one who brought us into an everlasting and unconditional covenant with the Father. Jesus is our Great Shepherd. He is also the Shepherd and Bishop of our soul. (1 Peter 2:25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.) A bishop was one who cared for and watched over. Jesus cares for us and watches over us day by day. No one better to be in His tender care than the Shepherd and Bishop of our soul. Give praise and thanks for the Lamb of God.
