March 11th, 2021 by Pastor Solley1 Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
KJV
This short statement carries a command. To be honest I tend to like the short statements that tell me what and who God is or what God will do for me rather than the ones that tell me what I need to be or do. This one tells me to be something I have trouble with each day. Be holy, be set apart from sin, be perfect, be holy. How can I possibly be holy? I may fool myself from time to time into thinking I am holy but then I consider the holiness of God and I know fall short of this command. Yet there is a way that this command can be obeyed in our lives. No, we will never be perfect, sinless in this world. But as we study the holiness of God, consider the holiness of God, we can sin less, we can become more like Christ day by day. This can become a reality in our lives only if we follow the next verse in 1 Peter chapter one. (1 Peter 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:) If we call on the Father. What of this command today? Do you want to take steps is obeying the command to be holy? Then start by asking for His help today.
