March 5th, 2021 by Pastor SolleyPs 127:1-2 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
KJV
How many times I have read the 127th Psalm I could not begin to count especially when our children were young. Over and over I would meditate upon the importance of bringing them to the Lord and it is a beautiful Psalm as it gives instruction to the home. But it is also a Psalm that speaks to me when going through trials and times of sorrow. “Except the Lord build the house”, except I give all to Jesus my labor will all be in vain. The hours I spend in heartache, the worry I expend, the many ways I try and take care of a problem or situation are all in vain. “Except the Lord build the house”. What I find is that when I give all to Jesus I can sleep, “He giveth His beloved sleep”. Why? Because all my efforts spent on my own will be in vain. No matter how early I rise, how late I stay up, all my efforts are vain. Last evening with some things on my mind I fell asleep in prayer. There are still some things that concern me this morning but God gave sleep and I know today that He will bring peace.
