Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
KJV
I conducted a funeral yesterday which was what was leading to the devotionals this week. The man was just forty five years old, the second funeral I have had this year for a forty five year old man. They were not related but did have a great deal in common. Both were born, lived, and died at an all too early age. Neither one of them knew of their appointed time to die. Both had plans for the future that were derailed by health complications. Both had families that loved them and will miss them terribly. They had a lot in common but there is one thing I left out. Both had received the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal savior, both knew Jesus in a personal way. At one time in their lives they realized their need for a savior, their need for forgiveness of sin, their need for salvation, both repented of sin and were born again. Each time I have a funeral message to preach I see again the truth of the Bible and realize that the deceased has stepped into eternity, into hell or into heaven and that is sealed for eternity by a choice they made in this life. Are you born again today? Perhaps there is no urgency in answering that question today, or perhaps there is. Remember what the Bible says, that there is an appointed time to die and that none of us know when that time is. Be ready.
