And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
There is no night there. Think of that place of no darkness and no night. Think of that place that is filled with glorious light. Think of that place called heaven. And then think of the reason we can be there. Think of Jesus this morning. Quietly contemplate the Lamb as the light of heaven. Light in Scripture is the emblem of joy. The joy of the saints in heaven is comprised in this: Jesus chose us, loved us, bought us, cleansed us, robed us, kept us, glorified us: we are here entirely through the Lord Jesus. Then think of how most who claim to know Him today treat His today. Ignore His house, ignore His Word, refuse to worship Him and refuse to serve Him. Why not begin to walk in the light of Jesus Christ today, why not honor Him today by presenting your life to Him? Why wait for heaven for these things?
