Jesus is wonderful because of His counsel. Over the course of my life I have received some very bad advice, often from those I trusted and looked to for counsel. It was not that they tried to steer me in the wrong direction, I am sure they believed they were advising me in the right things to do, the best thing to do, but they were proved to be wrong. For examples I can go all the way back to high school guidance counselors, college advisers, even a pastor that I had much respect for. But there is one that has never given me bad counsel, one who had never steered me in the wrong direction, one who has always been wise and wonderful in His counsel and that is Jesus. Jesus is wonderful in counsel. Now He is often harder to hear from than others because that demands me spend much time in His Word and much time in prayer. His counsel is never written across the sky, doesn’t come in claps of thunder, but His counsel can always be heard if I am willing to spend the time with Him. That means today I must spend time in His Word asking Him to speak to me and then much more time in prayer listening for His voice. His counsel will often be opposite that of the world, but His counsel will never be wrong. Jesus is a wonderful counselor.
