November 30th, 2020 by Pastor SolleyDeut 28:47-48 Because thou servedst not the Lord thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
48 Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the Lord shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
Rev 18:3-4 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
KJV
The above verses give us the first and last uses of the word abundance in the Bible. It occurs to me that the more one has the less they think they need the Lord in their lives. That sadly includes both the Lord’s people and the world. Israel was given an abundance of things so they forgot the Lord. (First use of the word abundance in the Bible.) The world gains an abundance of things and never considers the Lord. (Last use of the word abundance.) Which group are you in this morning? I pray neither, but most people fit into one group or the other. I know many who claim to know the Lord as savior and they seldom walk into the church house, seldom do anything for the Lord, they have what they think they need. I also know many who are so well off they never think about the Lord or eternity for that matter. Then there are the few who are blessed and thank the Lord daily and serve Him in any way they can. Which group are you in today?
