Jonah 2:9-10 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.
10 And the Lord spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
KJV
This is the last place in the Old testament that the word thanksgiving is found. I see here that one of the things Jonah learned in the belly of the fish was to be thankful. One could say that before this moment Jonah was not thankful to be a prophet of God, not thankful he was being sent to Nineveh, not thankful for the message he was given for those people, but that he learned to be thankful through suffering and sorrow. We need be sure we do not place ourselves in the same situation as Jonah. There are things we most certainly do not understand taking place around us, health problems we may be facing, other things that we have a hard time being thankful for. But we need remember to be thankful in all things for we all have much to be thankful in the Lord. Let us not have to learn to be thankful through suffering as Jonah did.
