30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
KJV
I could not list this morning all the ways we, I, have grieved the Holy Spirit and grieve Him still by my actions and thoughts day after day. It is not that I want to but I am in a battle as we all are. One of the ways in which we grieve the Holy Spirit is by not being thankful in word or in spirit. As I have been preaching the last three week and will do again on Sunday, we need to be a thankful people. God has given us many reasons to praise and give thanks day after day and that includes hard and difficult days. I remember what I was doing six years ago today. At this time in the morning I was talking to my earthly father for the last time in this world. I had spent the night with him and was just talking with him in the early hours of the morning. It would turn out to be a hard day but also a day in which to give thanks and praise to Jesus. My father was a saved man and I know that the very best thing that could take place in his life was to see his savior face to face. This is a sad sort of day but also a day to give thanks and praise to Jesus.
