Matt 19:13-15 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.
KJV
Those who follow this daily may have correctly assumed that my wife and I were in VA yesterday visiting our grandchildren and their mother and father. What a blessing they are to us and I use the above passage with them in mind. The word forbid is found thirty seven times in the Bible and the most well know having to do with children. Four times Jesus tells us not to forbid or hinder children coming to Him. How much more that command is needed in our present world all can clearly see. Yet I see most parents today not nearly as concerned with bringing their children to Jesus as they need to be and I am speaking about professing Christian parents. They seem to be able to be taken everywhere but God’s house. They seem to be put under every type of instruction except the preaching of the Word of God. They seem to hear how important it is to listen to everyone except God. Why? I can’t answer that. I can only thank the Lord for what our grandchildren, so far away from us, are learning not only in their home but in the good church they attend. Our oldest who is nine is saved and we had some discussion about the Bible and other spiritual things while we were there. We talked about his Sunday School teacher and an upcoming Christmas play they will all be in. Our middle one is five and is beginning to ask question that make me believe he will soon be saved. Our youngest is three and already speaks of God as if she is in a personal relationship with Him telling us what God says to her. With the dark clouds surrounding our society today it is a blessing to see what God is still doing in the lives of the little ones.
