Daily Devotions

1 John 5:15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

One of the great joys of knowing Jesus is knowing Jesus knows us and all of our needs. He hears us because we are His children by the new birth and because we are His He cares for us deeply. The analogy I want to make this morning is that of a parent and a child. One may say they love all children but the love for our own children goes much deeper than that. God does love the entire world but a love for His child somehow goes deeper. Because He hears he wants what is best for us and will hold nothing back that is good for us. The above verse does NOT mean we will get everything we pray for but it does mean we will get all that is good for us and all that is within His will. What parent ever gave their child everything they asked for? I was up much of the night last night in prayer for some in urgent need. Will my prayers be answered? Yes! Will I see exactly what I asked for? That I don’t know but I do know He heard, He cares, and He will grant what is best for all concerned.
