October 19th, 2020 by Pastor Solley1 Cor 3:1-3 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

What joy a new born baby brings. To hold that one and realize how precious that life is, to be able to love that one and cherish that little one truly brings great joy to a parent and a grandparent. But what if that little one never grows? What if they were to stay in the new born stage? That joy would soon turn to sorrow. Love would not diminish, but there would be those thoughts of what may have been. In our text the believer is compared to a new born. The joy that was there at that moment of salvation, that excitement of being saved. I can remember when I was saved as well as when my children were saved and it is a good comparison to the very day that they were born. But what if one never grows spiritually, what if one never grows in the Lord? Then that joy is turned to sorrow for all those around them, all of those that care for them. God wants us to grow spiritually just as we want the new born close to us to grow physically. There is a great deal of joy at a new birth but there is just as much joy as we watch those little ones grow. We need to bring God joy as we grow spiritually.
