Judg 8:1-5 And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why hast thou served us thus, that thou calledst us not, when thou wentest to fight with the Midianites? And they did chide with him sharply.
2 And he said unto them, What have I done now in comparison of you? Is not the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abi-ezer?
3 God hath delivered into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb: and what was I able to do in comparison of you? Then their anger was abated toward him, when he had said that.
4 And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them.
5 And he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian.

I have been preaching on Gideon for several weeks now and I come to chapter eight in Judges and find Gideon faint. There were things that I believed discouraged Gideon, things that made him tired and I am sure that Gideon felt like just stopping. But although he was faint he kept going on for the Lord. The word faint is found more times in the Bible than I thought it would have been and it tells me that there will be times when we are so discouraged we feel like stopping. But what should we do when we feel faint? Keep pursuing, keep going on for the Lord. There are some things that are discouraging to every believer in Christ today, at least they are discouraging to me. In times of crisis find me the place in the Bible we are to stay away from the Lord, run away from the Lord. But that is what many professing believers have done and are doing today. In times when the world is sinking deeper into sin find me the place in the Bible where believers are to engage in sin. That again is what many who profess Christ are doing today. Find for me in the Bible the place we are to stop making a joyful noise into the Lord. But many today claim it would be harmful to sing His praises. Things are discouraging to me today. So what is the course of action? Let us follow Gideon and even when we feel faint keep on going for the Lord.
