Gen 50:19
19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God ?
What a wonderful place this must be, the place of God. In my personal devotions last week I was reading through the end of the book of Genesis and this verse has continued to speak to my heart. To be in the place of God was the best place Joseph could be. I wonder how many reading this today can say they are in the place of God? This is the only place this phrase is used in the Bible so it must be an uncommon thing. To be in the perfect will of God, to be perfectly content and happy to be there, to serve with peace withing and joy without. I believe all those things true of Joseph. He had to be a remarkable individual but what made him that way was being in the place of God. Not just after he had risen to great heights in Egypt, but being there always. In the place of God in the pit, on the slave block, in his master’s house, in the prison and then in the court of Pharaoh. Joseph was in the place of God. Are we today?
