March 9th, 2020 by Pastor Solley1 Cor 12:25-31 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
KJV
God wants no division in the body of Christ especially in the area of spiritual gifts. Not all are going to be given the same spiritual gifts and there is to be no competition between believers as far as spiritual gifts are concerned. I have spoken to many who seemed to desire to do what others have been called to do. For example the gift of prophecy. There are no prophets tody as in that day, foretelling the Word of God, receiving new revelation from God and making that known, telling future events that have been hidden up until that time. But there are prophets today in that men forth tell the Word of God, preach the Word of God. They give God’s Word from the Bible. Some desire to do that but have not been called and that usually springs from a desire to be noticed as others are. That will most likely end in broken and destroyed ministries, homes and families. That usually brings about schism in the body. But is one any less because they have the gift of helps and not of prophecy? No and especially not in God’s eyes. Whatever gift we have been given is to be used because all are important.
