2 Cor 1:7-10 And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
8 For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;
KJV
Yesterday we spoke of the blessings of suffering in that we might be a help to others who are suffering as well. This morning the end of suffering, reward. I can take part in His consolation. That is the Lord Himself will comfort us during our trial which is a great reward but beyond that we trust to be rewarded in heaven as well. When I was younger and playing sports I used to measure effort and reward. Running all those sprints, lifting weights, what did it gain? It allowed me to practice harder which was more work. What did it gain? It paved the way for success in the game and it was worth it, the effort was worth the reward. What of our suffering in this world, what will it gain? The consolation of Christ right now and reward later in heaven. That will be worth it all.
