9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
KJV
Six times in the New Testament the command is given to the believer in Christ not to be ignorant, the last of which is in our Scripture reading this morning. People can look at this in one of two ways, that there is much time left in this world or there is little time left in this world. The wise individual will see that as a warning there is little time left in this world. Why? So we will busy ourselves in the work of the Lord, so we will realize that we have just a short time to lay up treasures in heaven, so we know how urgent it is to share the gospel with the lost. Most of us go through life thinking we have plenty of time, when all the while we have but a short time left. God would not have us be ignorant of the truth we have but a little while in this wold and we ought to make good use of our time.
