Rom 1:13-17 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.
14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.
15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
KJV
Six times in the Bible we find a command not to be ignorant, all in the New Testament. There are certain things that God draws special attention to in His Word. Jesus Christ for example in one special attention is given to in the Bible and the purpose is the drawing of all men to Jesus Christ. What is it that God would not have us to be ignorant of? Above is the first of those commands and we find it concerns the gospel as well as the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Notice that God would have His children always ready to share the gospel. Always ready to preach. God may not have called you to be a preacher as we think of a preacher today but you are called to preach. Paul was always ready to tell a lost sinner about Jesus, are you? Too many times we pass up opportunities to witness to the lost when we may be the only one able to share the gospel with them. Always be ready. We also find that Paul was not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Are you? The answer that immediately comes is no, but think about it a moment. Do people know you as a Christian? Do you co-workers know you are a Christian, your classmates, your friends, do people know you as a Christian? If that answer is no then why not? Could it be that you are ashamed to be known as a Christian. My friend be not ignorant of these things.
