2 Kings 1:1-3 Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.
2 And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.
3 But the angel of the Lord said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron?

Why is it that Christians so often seek advice from others before they seek it from the Lord? I expect no Christian reading this would go to a fortune teller for advice, at least I pray they would not, but we often look to others before we look to the Lord. It is not wrong to seek advice from others. I myself have a series of blood work beginning this week, an appointment with a doctor next week, and then a biopsy to be scheduled concerning the cancer I have. I am seeking advice from others. But the matter has first and is still being taken to the Lord. Prayer for a healing has not been immediately answered so I prayed the Lord direct me to the right doctor. Then to the right specialist. Then to give peace about the advice I should follow. The latter has been answered. So now after four months the tests begin again. Whose advice to follow? The Lord’s first. Things always work better when we take them first to the Lord. It may be that the Lord will direct us to another for counsel but it is always better when we take it first to the Lord.
