Joel 2:13
13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

KJV
I was reminded last evening at revival services that God not only looks at our actions but at our heart as well. It was good that Israel would rend their garments, show that they were repentant before the Lord. But it would be better if their heart was in it and that is why the prophet told them to rend their heart. Why do we do things for the Lord, why do things in the spiritual realm? Is it because we have always done that, because we were trained to do that, or because we have a heart for those things? It is better to rend the heart.
