Ezra 7:21-22 And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers which are beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,
22 Unto an hundred talents of silver, and to an hundred measures of wheat, and to an hundred baths of wine, and to an hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.
KJV
How much salt is too much salt? It depends on what context one is considering salt. Too much salt of the kind that comes out of a shaker can be bad for your health so they say and many find themselves on a low sodium diet. But what of the salt of Christianity? We are called the salt of the earth as Christians by Jesus. Can there be too much of that type of salt? According to the world that answer is yes so the world has tried to limit that salt. No prayer is schools, no Bible at school, at government functions and so on. They do not even use a Bible in court today. So as the salt of Christianity has been limited because man and government says it is bad, how has that worked out? When the Jews returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple they took salt without measure. I think today if we had some Christians who were salt without measure it would begin to make a difference in this world, it certainly would make a difference in our churches.
