John 15:1-4 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
KJV
What can I do, what can I accomplish on my own? The world says anything I set my mind upon, the Bible says nothing? (Verse 4) Who is right and who is wrong? There are many things I imagine in can do on my own. Make a living, get an education, have a home and family, purchase the things that bring me joy, there are many things I can do on my own. But how many things of eternal value can I do on my own and for the present how many of my accomplishes can I secure? The answer to those question is none or nothing. I see families fall apart, home destroyed, money lost all the time. God is not in it and those things fall apart. So what can I do on my own? The sooner we get to the place where we realize we are nothing and can have nothing apart from the Lord the better off we will be.
