John 15:19-20 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
KJV
Why shouldn’t we have difficult times? Our Lord had plenty of them and He is the Lord of glory. This world is fueled by Satan and his angels and the devil has plenty of hatred for Jesus. That hatred is passed on to those whom Jesus loves, those Jesus chose and we have been chosen out of the world. But who is it that Jesus has chosen? Jesus has chosen all to receive His grace, receive His free pardon of sin, Jesus has chosen all. This becomes real in our lives when we repent and come to Jesus and Jesus alone for salvation. But why do that if we become targets for Satan? Because we are targets for Satan to begin with in that he works to keep people from being saved so they will spend eternity in hell. Salvation is worth the becoming a target of salvation because with it comes the reality of the love of God in our lives.
