1 Chron 4:21-23
21 The sons of Shelah the son of Judah were, Er the father of Lecah, and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen, of the house of Ashbea,
22 And Jokim, and the men of Chozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who had the dominion in Moab, and Jashubi-lehem. And these are ancient things.
23 These were the potters, and those that dwelt among plants and hedges: there they dwelt with the king for his work.
This doesn’t seem like very important work, being a potter or gardener. Not like the mighty men of David who served on the battle field, not like the prophet who served before God, not like the priest who served in the temple. But notice these potters served before the king. The king needed them, needed this work to be done and because they were faithful they dwelt with the king. We may not have the greatest task in the world in the eyes of the world but what of the eyes of God? These potters were important enough in the eyes of God to be names in His Word. Doing simple things like cleaning a church building, mowing grass, pounding nails may not seem like much in our eyes. But what of the eyes of God?
