Ex 25:6 Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense,
KJV
One short verse this morning but an important one. God wanted the lamp in the tabernacle and later the temple always to be lit and for that to happen there always needed to be oil for the lamp. We sing a song “Give Me Oil in my Lamp” for our youth camp. In order for a lamp to burn it needed oil. To apply this spiritually we always need to have our light shining for Jesus and for that to happen we need oil. Oil in the Bible is used as an emblem for the Holy Spirit so I need to be found doing the things that keep my lamp burning. I need to be yielded to the Holy Spirit, I need to be reading my Bible, I need to have a prayer life, I need to walk in obedience to the Word of God, I need to abstain from sin and many other things I could name. Sounds like a lot until I compare it to what Jesus Christ did for me. May today we all put oil in our lamps.
