2 Peter 1:4-8 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
KJV
One should look at faith as a seed planted in good ground, in good soil. A seed planted in good ground, well watered, tended to, will always grow, it will always produce. A seed not planted will not grow. A seed not watered will not grow. A seen not tended to will not grow and produce as it should. Why should it surprise us that we need to take care of our seed of faith for it to grow properly. Faith in Jesus Christ is a seed planted in good soil, it should grow. But it does need to be watered, it does need to be tended. We water our seed with the living water, the Word of God. We tend it with prayer and a walk of obedience in Jesus Christ. When those things are present that seed will grow as we see above. When those things are absent that seed will not produce. Your faith dear Christian should be growing and if it is not then you are not taking care of it as you should because in Christ it has been planted in good soil.
