They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.
The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:
Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?
For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.
The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.

David’s prayer begins with just two short words “Help, Lord.” But can there be a better way to begin a prayer? The heading of the Psalm does not tell us the occasion. Was it just before tha battle with Goliath? Was it while Saul sought the life of David? We do not know the occasion but we do know there were few that David could depend upon if any. We face many such times in our lives, when it seems there are few we can depend upon. But like David we can call out to the one we can always depend upon, we have the Lord. What is it that you are facing today? Who can you call upon to heal, strengthen, protect and guide you? Are there many or few? There is one standing beside you who will not let you down. He listens right now for your call.
