2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.I have come to the conclusion that there is a difference between knowing and abiding. The Bible says “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” So many claim to know Jesus Christ in a personal way and I am not questioning that, but they most certainly do not walk as He walked. They say that they love Jesus but they do not love as He loved. They say they want to serve Jesus but they do not serve as He served. Why the difference? They do not abide in Him as He abided in the Father. It is possible my friend to abide in Christ. If it were not it would not be seen in the Bible. God is not going to demand what we cannot do in Christ. The problem today is that many know Him but few want to Abide in Him. Few want to take up true residence in Jesus Christ. Many want that closeness I believe but there is a sacrifice for one to make to walk in it. We had altars full at revival just two weeks ago but I wonder how many will make the sacrifice necessary to keep those decisions. By the amount of people we have in church just two weeks later the answer has to be not many. We need to abide, really abide in Him. Not in our work life, or family life, or social life, but abide in Christ. If more did than more would be walking as He walked.
