42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

To be a part of the church of God one must be born again. (Verse 41, 47) My emphasis is not on baptism but on salvation. One can be baptized and not be saved, one can join a local church and not be saved, but one cannot be a part of God’s church apart from being born again by the Holy Spirit of God, saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. One reason the churches of our day have such problems is that they are filled with pretenders. My question for you this morning is not what church you attend or call your own, how many services you go to a week, not even if you are a member in good standing, but are you born again? If not that church is only a name to you, only a building, and even as you sit in it you sit outside God’s true church. The first step is being born again, only then can you say you are part of a church, part of the church?
