Isa 53:1-4 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
KJV
Jesus was not a popular man. (Verse 3) We see multitudes following after Jesus in the gospels, but they wanted to receive or see a miracle. Remember those same ones cried out “Crucify him.” Jesus was despised and rejected, why? Because of the message He preached. Jesus did not look at sin and smile, do not look at sin and accept it, Jesus preached repentance, preached against sin. Because of that Jesus was mocked, ridiculed, rejected, He became acquainted with grief. Hollywood makes Jesus very popular, He never was with those who did not get saved just as the born again believer is not popular with the world today. People today love sin and hate the Bible, love sin and hate the Christian, love sin and hate the true God and Jesus Christ. Remember that Jesus was despised and rejected so you will not be surprised when the world despises you.
