Rom 8:14-17 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
KJV
We saw yesterday that the universal fatherhood of God, the way it is preached by many today is not true, that to enter into a father son relationship with God one must be born again. But once an individual is born again, once they do enter into that relationship, what do they receive? The Bible points out many things and we will look at a few of them in the coming days. First, we receive leading. (Rom 8:14) I remember as a little boy taking my Father’s hand and being led along the way. I remember more clearly taking my children’s hands and leading them and now my grandchildren. For the little one there is a place of safety, a feeling of safety and security when their hand is in yours. For the father or grandfather there is a feeling of responsibility. There were times when I allowed my children to walk beside me without holding their hands, and then there were times I took their hands in mine and would not let them go. If there was danger, if the path was rocky or steep, I would take their hand, I would lead them, I would protect them. In that same way our heavenly Father has our hand held tightly in His. We are secure, He is responsible for us and will take care of us.
