1 Thess 5:1-6 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
KJV
1 Thess chapter five speaks of the last days and while we could look at the signs of His Second Coming in the Bible I want to look this morning at the condition of the church in these last days. I think we see that in verse six above, a sleeping church, an indifferent church, and so the call is given to wake up, to watch, to be serious. The closer we get to the return of the Lord the more the church seems to become drowsy, indifferent to the things of the Lord. The exact opposite should be true, we should become more active, more alive. Our time is growing short my friend and it is high time we awake to the needs of this hour. Christian homes are under attack, a generation is being lost, the church house has become neglected, it is time to awake to the need of the hour. Would you rather Jesus find you asleep or awake at His return?
