28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

People should I believe be goal setters, but what type of goals? I heard one time that you should set your goals low, that way you will never be disappointed. That is foolish in my mind. But what goals, how high should one set them. A goal should be something we have not yet reached, something just out of reach. There is one such goal in our reading for today, to be perfect in verse 28 above. Now that goal is not only out of our reach, it is impossible for us to reach on our own. But can we be perfect in Christ? That answer is yes with a qualification. We should strive to be perfect, to always live for the Lord, to please Christ in all that we do. But we need to understand that perfection will never be realized in this world, not as long as we are still in the flesh. That goal will be reached when we stand with Jesus is glory. Why then try for perfection, why set that goal? Because it is Biblical to do so. (Phil 3:14-15 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.)
