Ps 85:1-6 Lord, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.
2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.
3 Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.
4 Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.
5 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?
6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
KJV
The only true rejoicing one can have is in the Lord Jesus Christ. Think of the things that make you happy in this world, the things that cause you to rejoice. They are all temporary, all of them will pass one day. I love my family, love my wife, children, grandchildren as much as any individual could. One day death will separate me from them. I love my church family as much as any pastor could. One day death will separate me from them. I have a nice warm home, a car to drive, one day they will no longer be. Yet I do have a relationship with God through Christ that will never end, noting can sever that relationship, it is eternal. I can rejoice today because of Jesus Christ and when my joy is not as it should be all I need do is focus on that relationship. That my fried causes rejoicing.
