Prov 11:30
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
KJV
To be a successful hunter is helps to be wise, wiser than what you are hunting for. To be wise you must know the animal, his dislikes and likes. For example where the deer like to feed, where they like to bed down, the trails they take to get from one place to the other, where they are most likely to run if frightened and so on. It doesn’t guarantee success, but it helps a great deal. Same in winning or hunting for souls. One must try and get to know the one you are talking with, his or her likes and dislikes, what they are interested in and try and use those things in leading to sharing the gospel. For example, one time when knocking on doors a man refused to talk to us, refused to take gospel tracts, was not interested. As he turned to walk away from his door I commented on his dog that was barking behind him, told him I had a dog and what breed it was. The man stopped and we talked about his dog for a while and then he took some tracts and we were able to share the gospel somewhat. It always helps to be wise and our wisdom comes from the Lord.
