2 Tim 2:1-4 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
KJV
A good soldier in God’s army finishes the fight, completes his tour of duty, there is no desertion. Many things may hinder our service, many times we may be tempted to turn in our weapons, many times we may be tempted to stop. Those things are natural, but the good soldier will not give in, the good soldier will endure. No one is sure what they will have to endure, but the good soldier will endure. I talked to a man yesterday who went through the battle of the bulge, his brother landed on D-Day in France, they had no idea as just teenagers what they would have to endure, but they did. The Christian soldier will endure, the good soldier will endure.
