2 Tim 2:1-4 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
KJV
Because he takes orders a soldier will many times do things that are against his nature, things he may not like or understand. A soldier will always put the needs of his unit above self. As Christians there are many commands that are against our nature. (Phil 2:4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.) That is against our nature. There are other things we may not fully understand. (John 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.) Yet we do these things for the good of others, we do them for the good of the unit to return to the military illustration. Will we eventually understand? I believe so, but it may not be until we stand with Jesus.
