Gen 1:1-7
1 In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.In the first chapter of the first book of the Bible we find that God is a God of division. That word divided is used 69 times in the Bible, 12 times by Jesus Himself. God is a God of division. Why is it then that so many who claim to know Jesus Christ as personal savior want to be so much like the world? Want to look like the world, act like the world, go to the same places and do the same things? God has separated us from those things in Jesus Christ. Don’t be afraid to be different. God separated light from darkness and the Christian from the world. There is to be a division between the two. Just consider the time of the day that is the most useless. The sun has gone down in the evening or has not yet risen in the morning. The stars cannot be seen, the moon darkened, it is dusk or that period of darkness just before daylight springs. That time of day is useless. I would rather see the sun coming up or going down, see the day breaking with new warmth and light, see the day ending with those last beautiful rays of sunshine, or look at the stars shining in the sky, the moon high above. But that time when you can see nothing holds nothing for us. So it is with the Christian not divided or separated from the world. The lost cannot see the risen Christ in us, God cannot see His glory shining through us, it is dusk and no man can see anything. Christian to let God’s glory shine in this world you need to be divided today. God is a God of division.
