Matt 8:24-27
24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
KJV
I was out in the woods yesterday afternoon when a storm started brewing. Dark clouds were in the sky and thunder was sounding far off. I watched as that storm approached and the wind picked up and it grew darker and darker. Yes I did get caught in the storm, but I was not afraid, awe struck was more like it. I often get that way watching the power that is in a storm as I think of the above passage, “What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!” What a powerful God we serve and to think that He has interest in us, in you and in me, is a truth that just goes beyond my comprehension. As I walked calmly through the rain to my truck I for some reason never felt safer, my God who has power over the storm was walking with me.
