28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
29 For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?Jesus said these words just before He gave His life in dying for our sin on the cross. What shall be done in the dry? If they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry? In other words if they do this to the Son of God when they had opportunity to receive Him what shall they do when they stand before God with no chance of redemption. Thin of that for a moment. Of how the lost treat Jesus today, of how they curse His name, mock Him, reject Him. As they do this today what will they do when they stand before God in judgment? But also think of the Christian as well. We have been saved by the blood of Jesus, we have been redeemed, been pulled out of sin. This is our green tree season. Why do we often act as if we are dry? We ought to be praising God, serving the Lord, living for Jesus in this our green season for there is a time coming when it will be dry, a time coming when our opportunity to do these things is past. Are we serving the Lord in our green season?
