13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
KJV
The English word suffer is a very common one in the Bible and it can mean different things. Here it is used to show just how much Jesus cares for and wants the little ones brought to Him. We begin our VBS this morning and many have been praying that God give us a good week. I believe that will be the case but I also know that parents today don’t care much about the verses in our reading this morning. I write this not knowing what our numbers will be but also knowing that most parents don’t seem t have the time to being their children to Jesus. They will take them to little league, or soccer league, to cheerleading, to so many things, but they just don’t have time for Jesus. When I was a young boy VBS was often for two weeks and was one of the highlights of the summer. Things have certainly changed but one thing has not, God has not changed. These verses are still in front of us and God still wants the little ones brought to Him. Please take time to pray for us this week.
